Our Toddler Care Program Helps Your Child Explore Their World!

Young Scholars Academy child care has an amazing toddler care program for energetic and on-the-move Toddlers!
After your child’s first year, they are usually ready developmentally ready to move to our Toddler Program. These classrooms are designed to provide a perfect environment where the equipment and activities are designed to further promote cognitive, emotional and physical development. We do incorporate a more structured routine that includes academic centers, a circle time and silliness! This is the perfect age to expose their minds to math, science and social emotional concepts!
Our toddler care classrooms are available to children aged 12-24 months. To better focus on your one year olds’ needs, we break our Toddler Care programs into two separate rooms, to better focus on their development. Toddler A is for young children aged 12-18 months, and Toddler B is available for young children 18-24 months.
Gross motor play is encouraged by activity walkers, climbing mats, push and pull toys and our state of the art toddler playground, we believe the fresh air is good for both the teachers and the children!
Toddlers are introduced to or exposed to beginning sign language. (We start in our Infant program so most children get their foundation during their first year with us!) We want them to be confident in their vocal and communication skills before they’re hitting our accredited preschool program, which starts at 2.5 years old! Research on baby sign language has found that teaching baby signs improved cognitive and emotional development across the board. Sign Language also shows no signs of slowing down speech, baby sign language actually increases the rate of verbal development and at the same time increases the teacher/child bond! We can better care for your babies when we’re able to understand their needs!
Our certified teachers work on social skills with the children to encourage sharing and group play. They even start to form social relationships and we walk the kids through early problem solving skills.

Potty Training
Now at no point within our program will your child not be able to advance to the next classroom because as you all know, children go when THEY are ready to go!
Beginning in our 18 month classroom we have bathrooms located in each of the classrooms so the kids have access at all times. We’ve had many kids in this classroom begin to show interest and so we’ll work with your family to determine the best steps to conquer potty training.
The best way that your child is going to become fully potty trained is when there is consistency and communication between the parents and educators. When your family comes in to meet their teachers, we encourage you to discuss the best plan for success!
Two Year Old Program
Our two year old program, “Explorers,” and “Preschool A” are designed to accommodate the traits and needs of a child who is growing towards independence. At our child care program, your two-year old is entering the world of change. They’re more vocal, they’re busier and they’re fast! We break up our two year old classrooms into six month increments so that your child can be in a space that’s developmentally appropriate for them.
Physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth is at an all-time high so our daycare (early childhood) teachers are provided with appropriate resources to promote a readiness for Preschool.
Spanish is a daily part of our curriculum in the Explorers and Preschool A programs. We also include social studies, math, science and language arts. Potty training usually begins approximately at this age and in these classrooms but that’s completely up to the child and family.
When a child starts to show an interest in using the toilet, the experts at Young Scholars Academy will discuss an appropriate plan of action with the parent.
We often like to refer to our twos classrooms as “controlled chaos” but our amazing Child Care Team members do a great job at working through the twists and turns of being a two year old!
