Children In Our Preschool Program Love Our Unique
“Learning Centers” !

Preschool at Young Scholars Academy is not only a blast but has a purpose! At approximately 2½ years of age, a unique period of growth happens and we want to partner with you and your family to nurture this growth and let is soar!
You can expect to see a rapid increase in the ability to learn concepts and skills and be sure to prepare yourselves for a mass amount of questions that are bound to come your way!
For this group, the capacity of verbal language is multiplying at an accelerating pace. Children of this age respond to intriguing critical thinking activities and are delighted when they complete a task successfully.
Creative Preschool Curriculum

Our goal here at Young Scholars Academy is to challenge the kids but do so in a way that is going to make the most impact (they’re only kids once!) This is one reason why we use Creative Curriculum in our classrooms.
Teaching Strategies Gold with The Creative Curriculum primarily because it provides a comprehensive, research-based system that seamlessly connects curriculum, assessment, and family engagement into one cohesive framework. It helps teachers focus on what’s most important: fostering children’s development through intentional, play-based learning.
Child-Centered, Play-Based Learning
The Creative Curriculum is built on the principle of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP). It recognizes that children learn best when they are actively engaged and exploring topics that interest them.
- Interest Areas: The curriculum helps teachers set up well-defined interest areas (e.g., blocks, dramatic play, art, library) that invite exploration and discovery.
- Studies: Instead of rigid, teacher-led lessons, learning is organized into long-term projects called “studies” (e.g., a study on balls, trees, or buildings). This allows children to investigate a topic in depth, ask questions, and find answers through hands-on activities.
- Whole-Child Approach: It focuses on all areas of development, including social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills, ensuring balanced growth.
Think of it like being a tour guide in a museum. Instead of forcing everyone to look at the same painting at the same time, the guide (teacher) creates an engaging environment (the classroom) and allows the visitors (children) to explore what fascinates them, offering information and support along the way.
Preschool Learning Through Outdoor Interactive Play
The gross motor activities are accommodated with a unique dramatic playroom called Exploration Station and an age appropriate playground.
The separate preschool playground is provided for the children to go outdoors for fresh air daily (of course, weather permitting!).
The large and kid friendly playground utilizes artificial turf and provides a four-foot fall zone around the cement bicycle track.
Children have various play materials such as tricycles, wagons and other materials to further develop their gross motor skills. We are proud to have each of the centers in our classrooms also on the playground which allows for the children to take their learning beyond the classroom!
Here at Young Scholars Academy, we also know how much kids like to climb! Our preschool program has a great activity area including the climber! The climber provides your child with unique learning experiences that daycare teachers cannot teach them.
Using the climber also promotes friendships and social interaction, as well as, the gross motor skills. The climber has a ten-foot fall zone around to protect the child while allowing them to perfect gross motor skills.
Like our preschool classrooms we invite you to come and get a hands-on look at the room and meet our teachers and take a look at our nationally-accredited program!
