Keeping the Love Alive Even with Small Children

April 27, 2015 by Young Scholars Academy Leave a Comment

Keep love alive!
Keep love alive!

Every family has gone through it – lots of passion and spice in your relationship and then the children come along. Somewhere along the way those alone times you used to spend with each other are replaced with babies, children crawling into bed with you in the middle of the night, overly busy schedules, etc.

It’s important that while you’re doing your best to raise your family you don’t lose sight of what brought you together as a couple. Here are some great ways to help keep the love alive even if you have small children in the home:

  • Flirting isn’t just for dating. Send your significant other a love note, a sweet text message or just an email that says you can’t wait for the two of you to be alone. Compliment each other, let the small chores go to spend an extra few minutes together, make a lunch date once a month and KEEP it!
  • Can’t go out on a date? Make a date at home. Cook dinner together, light some candles and spend the evening catching up. Make it a later dinner after your kiddos are in bed.
  • Don’t forget the little things. Go to bed at the same time. This may sound silly and simple but you’d be surprised at how effective this is. It’s difficult to keep romance alive when one spouse comes to bed after the other is already asleep. Never miss a chance to hug or kiss your spouse “just because.”

Keep in mind that your children will eventually grow and leave you to lead lives of their own. It’s important that you keep “investing” in your personal relationship with each other so that when you are alone again you still enjoy each other as much as you did before the children came along.

We just wanted to take a moment and say THANK YOU!

bestFor those of you who don’t know we recently received GOLD for The Gazette’s Best of The Springs magazine!

Each year this magazine collects nominations and votes for companies and businesses who raise the level of expectation that much higher. Unknowingly Young Scholars Academy was nominated by a member of our community for “Best Day Care Center” and we won!

While we consider this such a great honor and love being recognized for all the hard work we do with our families and the Early Childhood Education field, we want to thank YOU!

2015 winner Best of the Springs Young Scholars Academy
Thank you–we are very honored!

Our families are the reason we were voted best; the partnerships created between our teachers and parents are something extraordinary and are a huge reason why our kids excel so much in their education!

Healthy Living and Creating Healthy Habits

April 22, 2015 by Young Scholars Academy Leave a Comment

VINCE
Moving is fun!

Healthy living and creating healthy habits is something we try to incorporate here at Young Scholars Academy but… let’s face it, it has to be fun!

We have been fortunate enough to be a part of a program called Mighty Moves. This program focuses its efforts on young preschoolers with hopes to encourage movement that is not only teacher-directed but get the children involved!

We have incorporated Mighty Moves into our daily schedule so that the children are able to relate to the characters and stories and even act them out on their own!

Our outdoor playgrounds are filled with not only equipment for every sport but with every area of learning (like the ones in our classrooms) for the children to expand their imaginations and really get moving!

By also incorporating each day and activity that that involves music and dance is a great way to make sure the kids get their wiggles out!

Climbing is awesome!
Climbing is awesome!

We also have 2 indoor gyms available for Toddlers and Preschoolers when Colorado is just being Colorado, and the weather is making it hard for the kids to go outside, the kids are able to go into these and have fun being a kid and just play!

We have multiple Providers here whose passion is in Music and Physical Education which we are so lucky to have because this means so much more when it comes to getting the kids active and getting them involved!

Something great that we like to do is bring in outside guests to come and do sessions with the kids to further movement beyond the classroom.

We are currently in partnership with Poser Kids Yoga who come each week to our school to stretch our bodies out and loosen up our muscles! Upon your enrollment to our school or not you are more than welcome to come and join us each week for all the fun exercising can bring.

Your child learns that:

  • Having fun while getting healthy!
  • Structured and sustained movement activities are enhanced by gross motor development.
  • Being active in the classroom and at home provides them the opportunity to form lifelong physical activity habits.
  • Kids with stronger motor skills tend to be more physically active.

Our children become active while dancing to music, learning spatial awareness, how to incorporate your 5 senses, stability, loco-motor skills, object manipulation, all while Learning from our Food Friends how to eat healthy!
